I’d consider that a ‘big result’

That all the sums dont quite add up isnt important. In a moment of relaxation you chose to listen to the story of a location and all this quickly ran into your head and your mind put structural form to it… it matters not about whether it was the right period of clothing etc…. you got the soap opera correct.

The thing is this. You cannot, ever, make anything up.

All ideas come from somewhere else.

You go quiet. You meditate, either absent mindedly or, focussed on an issue, and then ‘ping’, a light comes on, and you recieve the insight.

How then your mind intreprets the data recieved is different for every individual. If you had had a friend with you, they may of not seen what you had seen but may have heard the name ‘Watson’ or they may have seen a stern looking Quaker…

I think that you did good. and although you might still feel that you need convincing, I think that if you went places, had a silent med’ you’d get a lot more ideas come into your head.

Thats the otherworld for you. We are constantly connected to it, every action we make is because of an idea recieved… All we have to do, is use our morale code and wisdom and free will to decide whether we want to act on that idea or not.

    Its up to you.

    Nice one Vyxen,

    they are great pictures.

Where lies the way ahead now? Are you still investigating Oxfordshire leylines? Following up on Fair Rosamund and Godstow? or something entirely different?

Wow, Simon, thats really interesting, I’ll email Lynn and tell her to read this thread; I’ve got nothing to add though, that you cant find in Lynn’s book.

I am not sure about The Scorpio/eagle things… I’ll do some hunting.

    zodiaccrosspara.jpg

But as we have already discussed the Solstice and Equinox cross; the Four heavenly creature mark the counter cross.

    …………..

Have just found a Scorpio-eagle link which mirrors our conversation and the webpage connects it to one of the major Tarot cards

    http://www.byzant.com/astrology/eagle.asp

    ………………….

    I have studied the Four Gospels because of my interest in the Grail myths but the rest of the Bible I have never touched. Found this odd quote; this is probably up Michael and Simon’s street more than my own;

“The emblem of the tribe of Dan was the serpent, in fulfillment of Jacob’s prophecy in Genesis 49:17: “Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that biteth the horse heels, so that his rider shall fall backward.” However, the prince of the tribe of Dan replaced the serpent with an eagle.

“To Dan was given the symbol of Scorpio, which, in the ancient Egyptian zodiac was a snake. However, when the time came to hoist the symbol of the snake, Ahiezer refused and chose instead the symbol of an eagle. According to Unger’s Bible Dictionary:

‘Dan’s position in the journey was on the north of the Tabernacle, with Asher and Naphtali. The standard of the tribe was of white and red, and the crest upon it, an eagle, the great foe to serpents, which had been chosen by the leader instead of a serpent, because Jacob had compared Dan to a serpent. Ahiezer substituted the eagle, the destroyer of serpents, as he shrank from carrying an adder upon his flag. It may prove worthwhile to consider the possible connection to the tribe of Dan whenever an eagle is used as the symbol of subsequent leaders or nations.’ ” (127:117)”

A lot of this imagery can be veiled astrology.

Like Jesus and John the Babtist being midwinter and midsummer, the Four heavenly creatures also form a heavenly cross between the zodiacal wheel.
Their wings representing ‘heavenly’ (ie stella)

Taurus the BULL is opposite Leo the LION
and Aquarius the MAN is opposite Scorpio (often depicted as an EAGLE)

These animals are then also attributed to Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

Everything seems to be hidden astrology, even the Archangel Michael being depicted holding a set of Scales… his feast day is Sept 29th (which occurs during the time when the Sun is in Libra ‘the scales’)

    the question is WHY?

The bible doesnt give any dates that could ever be applied to our calendar; nowhere in the bible does it say that the four evangelists should be represented by the four heavenly creatures. So who decided that Jesus and the Baptist should represent the solstices? Who decided that the Four evangelists should represent the cross quartering of the Zodiac?

We’ve been talking of Brigid lately. Her feast day being 1st Feb (Imbolc). The world is now moving into the Age of Aquarius, (Imbolc occurs when the sun is in Aquarius so it would appear that Bride is destined to be an important archytype for the next 2000 years or so?

I though that this was interesting. Came across it a while ago in a book about myths of China and Japan… and there are some really odd parallels between Chinese and Celtic myth; here is what it says…

“…In Gaelic Scotland the serpent, which is associated with the goddess Bride, sleeps all winter and comes forth on 1st February (old style), known as “Bride’s day”. A Gaelic verse tells in this connection:

‘The serpent will come from the home
On the brown day of Bride,
Though there should be three feet of snow
On the flat surface of the ground.’

As in China, a compact was made with the Bride serpent or Dragon:

    (Chinese verse)
‘To-day is the Day of Bride,
The serpent shall come from his hole,
I will not molest the serpent,
And the serpent will not molest me.’

    Pretty odd stuff eh?

She is quite important all around the Bristol Channel

Bristol was originally called ‘Brigstow’ that being ‘Brigids Town’.

The centre of Bristol is still called Brideswell.

The early Romano British name of the Bristol Channel was the ‘Sabrina Sea’. Sabrina (sounds like ‘bree) comes from Sancta Bree-na.

Along the coast near Weston-Super-Mare is ‘Brean Down’ which inspired Dion Fortune to write the Sea Priestess.

All along the southern Welsh coast are numerous St. Brides finishing (after Swans Sea (Swansea)) with ‘St Brides Bay’.

Coming in-land from Weston-Super-Mare to Glastonbury we have ‘Brides Mound’ which once had a small nunnery of St. Bridget, and around the north foot of Glastonbury Tor is a small area still called ‘Brinsea’ a memory of when Glastonbury was once an island.

in reply to: Loose Ends 1: The Grail, The Tarot and Glastonbury #1753

    OK..

It’s Equinox and you have hit on a whole massive can of worms.

The Grail is just one of those topics that gets everyones back up… Andy and I had many hot-headed discussions about all this… I dont believe in Graham Philips’s ‘Marian Chalice’ and Andy did… so I am used to these arguements.

Lets try and keep things simple.

The Grail starts with Chretien de Troyes ‘Le conte du Graal’ and in many ways it finishes there. You cannot with any authority say that the Grail was a CUP, a STONE, a BLOODLINE, or any other of these modern concepts, because Chretien never described it as such… he specifically calls it a BOWL.

Yes, the whole Perceval story is about Perceval ‘learning’ his destiny, and to do so, ‘asking all those questions’. But Chretien makes no inuendo that the Fisherking is Christ or even christlike, and later in the book, Perceval comes across another king who explains everything to him… I have the book here and so can quote what is said,

(Of the Graal) “The man who is served from it was my brother. My sister and his was your mother. And as for that rich Fisher King, he is I believe, the son of this king who has himself served from the bowl. Do not imagine that it holds pike, lamprey, or salmon. With a single host carried to him in the bowl, we know, he sustains and nourishes his life. Such a holy object is the bowl, and so pure in spirit is he himself that his life requires no further nourishment than the host that comes in the bowl. For fifteen years now he has been served in this manner, never leaving the room where you saw the bowl enter…..”

The curious and frustrating thing is that Chretien never finished writing his Graal story (Though he does claim that it isnt an invention and that he is writing from a much older source)

Because it was unfinished this allowed others like Wolfram von Eshenbach to claim they knew the whole story… and he calls it a Stone… but no one else has Chretien’s authority… So you can only ever say with safety, that it was a sacred Bowl.

From the above quote, it is understood that Perceval was related to the Fisher King (who appears to be Perceval’s uncle) If we accept Perceval being of Arthur’s time then the Fisher King has to be of the 5th cent… cant possibly be Jesus… but there does seem to be the hint of some Fisher King bloodline that Perceval was born into

I think it was Rober de Boron who claimed that the Fisher King bloodline was descended from Joseph of Arimathea, and that the Grail was a Cup but Chretien never mentions any of this.

Looking to the Welsh for an earlier Celtic origin we get the story of Peredur who sees a ‘Graal-type-procession’ but the Bowl is replaced by a Large platter with a head swimming in blood.

As for the Four Grail Hallows,
Jesus gives us the Lance that pierced his side, and the Cup of the last supper; but it is John the Baptist who gives us the Sword that decapitated his head (Sir Gawain was on quest to find this sacred item) and the Platter/Dish upon which his head was given to Salome.

Jesus is Midwinter, the Baptist is midsummer; they are the ‘Two pillars of the temple’… Winter and Summer Solstice holding up the heavenly sphere. If you enter the temple between the two pillars you have to be entering along the line of the Spring/Autumn equinox

and that is where we are at. Autumn Equinox, time to enter the Temple.

Hi Vixen… Have you taken your crew to Godstow yet?

Equinox is nearly upon us… Best time of year for seeing through the veil, days of equal light and dark; either dusk or dawn, for the next couple of days, are going to be really good for seeing spirits.

As for the secret garden, it would be interesting to see what you and your friends ‘feel’ about the place if you go there (or near there)

    Hi Michael

    thanks for your detailed reply.

(Last things first, I do sell my Dryad Woods on ebay but only when I have them to sell, that is, I am not always on ebay perpetually; it depends how busy I am with other things. At the moment I have been kept very busy by my local shops wanting Drums and other items for their windows… If you wanted to order something then we could arrange something, you can email me at,

    Yuri13oct@yahoo.co.uk

if you wanted to talk business… but this wasnt meant to be a shameless ‘plug’ just trying to be helpful.)

The Triple Hare is really interesting. I understand that it has Easter goddess fertility connections but I didnt realise that it was almost universal as an icon. Probably goes back to Mesopatamian origins then… I am wondering if it has anything to do with the constellation of LEPUS ‘the Hare’

The Hare, The Maze and the Runes all seem to have an ‘Otherworld’ connection going on. As the constellation Lepus is part of the wild animals that the Hunter Orion pursues into the underworld. The Maze is often seen as a decent into the other world, In Celtic traditions a sun god character/hero, like Arthur, often decends into the otherworld to steal it’s treasures and bring them back to our world to the benifit of all mankind… This is very similar to how Odin, hung himself upon the world tree (that connects our world to the otherworld) wounded (christ-like) by a spear, and in his altered state of conciousness, learnt of the Runes and then taught them to mankind.

Maybe these symbols are drawing themselves to you because you are about to embark on a journey to the ‘otherworld’ in some way. form or another; shamanic journey or altered state of conciousness that will give you some kind of ‘treasure’ for you to pass onto others?

Who knows? I am just guessing out loud. When you go to Tintagel you should try and meditate and try to go on a journey… and write down every thing you see on that journey even what may seem insignificant.

Hares I think, are symbols of protection. Whilst the gang are busy eating there is always one on guard duty scanning the horizons for trouble. As soon as it sees anything worrying it thumps the graound repeatedly with its foot and all the other Hares run into hiding… Maybe the Hare/goddess would be your protector whilst you go into the otherworld.

Anyway, let us know if anything more occurs..

    Hi Michael

The Taoists say ‘Keep your mind as wide as a valley, and strive to look as if you know nothing.’

Why does the triple hare motiff, cretan maze and Runes intrigue you at this moment in time?

in reply to: The Story behind the Icon Trail #1733

Sounds interesting. Like you I am not too keen on anything too ‘christian’ but I am ok with gnostic stuff. You are perfectally right of course, just keep following your gut feelings.

It’s perfectly normal, within ‘questing’ to dip in and out of ‘flavours’. One moment you can have your head deep into the lives of saints and early christianity; the next moment you can be dabbling in Shamanism; then a few months later invoking ancient Greek deities before celebratting a Celtic festival!!!

seems to be what the New Age is all about; this Aquarian age, We’re planetary now, so all the worlds mythologies/religions and folklore belong to all of us. Questing has too involve all aspects.

Sounds like she has been a very inspiring woman, and positive inspiration will always inspire others to manifest writing, music, art, ideas etc… its all good and helps everyone.

Get used to it  this is normal.

What you have written is very interesting and very ‘on the frequency’ I dont want to say too much because it would throw up too many tangents; so just quickly,

I had started corresponding with Andy back in 1989 (me just a very enthusiastic 21 yr old, hooked on questing since I read the Green Stone at 15. Andy was always friendly but short in his replies. until 1990 when I first stumbled upon the ‘Three Crowns quest’ over strange circumstances… writing to tell Andy all about it, it co-incided with research he and his Earthquest group were doing at the time (which apart from the 7 Swords was Alex Langstones Bega material… The Three Crowns form a triangle, Iona, Lindesfarne and Glastonbury; centre of this triangle is the Sea just of St. Bee’s Head Cumbria (St Bega)…anyway. My stuff started coinciding with Andy’s stuff and in 1991 I joined Andy and co on a special event run via A.S.H. Magazine (now extinct) ‘THE ST. MICHAEL LINE RALLY’… A very strange weekend.

I met up with Andrew Collins, Debbie Benstead, John & Kerry Horrighan, Alex Langstone, Paul Weston, Ian Dawson, someone called Kirk, and another ‘newbie’ like myself Richard Ward. We spent an entire Bank Holiday weekend travelling up the St. Michael Line form St. Michael’s Mount in Cornwall, all the way to St. Margarets at Hopton on Sea (the Norfolk coast) Doing meditations and visualisations all along the way… It was a mad weekend and a very intense introduction to Andy Earthquest and Co. (The first time that I had met any of them) It was on the Michael Line Rally that I told Richard Ward about my Three Crowns quest and asked him if he would like to help me investigate it and so a great friendship began. There were many syncroncities and wierd ones on the Rally which culminated with an apport at the end!

Anyway, We got talking about Blenhiem Palace. I’d been taking an interest in it since my then girlfriend (a psychic, had said that a place called Woodstock was very important to my quest (this is near Blenhiem Palace) So too was Blenhiem interesting to the Earthquest group. They were going to go there, something to do with the Arthurian character ‘The Lady of Shallott’ being based upon the story of ‘Fair Rosamund’.

Anyway, A month after the Michael Line Rally Andy and co went and did their stuff at Blenhiem and Andy wrote and told me all about it, and excitedly informed me that they had gone on to Godstow were Rosamund had been a Nun, and there they had found an old gate with Three Crowns upon it!

A few weeks later Richard and I went there to check it out for ourselves (our very first day questing as a duo, and the first time we had met up since the Rally) (We found what my then (psychic) girlfriend had said that we would find ‘near Woodstock’ (a ‘bath’ that needed clearing). It’s a long story (for a thread of its own) but there you have it.

‘On either side the river lie long fields of barley and of rye etc’ The Lady of Shallott by Tennison. Has her living in a ‘island in the river’. Between Godstow Nunnery and the Trout Inn is an island. The old overgrown gate to this island has three crowns upon it and the garden (which is ‘private’ (not that Richard or I cared)) is a very unusual place. A gothic mystery of a place. It needs its own thread and I have some great photos of what we found there but I’ll have to find them, scan them, and then do a thread for ‘Godstow’s Secret Garden’ Maybe next week sometime… have other things to do.

When Richard and I first went there the garden was an overgrown mess of British jungle. As we explored, discovering various statues and ‘the bath’ it was all awesome. We did some clearing; physically and esoterically. and much to our surprise, when we returned the following year it had been restored professionally! So much so that we were unable to tresspass without being spotted by the owners of the Trout Inn; but we’d found what we had needed to… It will always remain special to Richard and I because (although humble in comparison to later events) it was our first real questing, on our own, without Earthquest; and that made it very personal and special.

So, yes, ‘Fair Rosamund’ played her part but I’m not sure what any of it means.

in reply to: ROBERT HUNTINGTON; 1600′s, witch mania in Oxfordshire #1730

Other than ‘general purpose’ Civil war history books I was never able to find time to look into local Oxfordshire history. (At the time all this happened to me I was living in Cornwall (and Richard in Essex) so our days to Godstow were ‘one-off’ day trips.) There was never enough time to get deeply involved and we were soon dragged off on to other quests.

Yes, the two women, one in black and another in white; seem to be metaphoric images rather than literal events (sometimes I see them as archtypes Elen & Morrighan).. but who knows. The research Richard and I were doing at Godstow, involved settling down ‘troubled energies’ but not in anyway specific to witchcraft or the Civil War period; if anything, our minds were towards the Victorian era… so?

I find it very interesting that Huntington and co were trashing Godstow just 3 weeks before the massacre of ‘Campsluts and whores’… who knows what madness went on for that three week period, between Godstow and Naseby ?

in reply to: The Story behind the Icon Trail #1727

Simon, tell us more about Joa Bolendas, is she still alive? When did she start channeling all this material?

How old are these Icons? What are they? paintings or ornamements. Are they of Russian origin or British historic. If they are Russian how do they connect with ancient british stuff like Bega etc?

There is a long tradition of sacred icons (the Templars are thought to of hidden four special ones in Britain for instance) And the Arthurian romances arent just about looking for the Grail (Gawain goes on quest to find the sword that decapitated the Baptist for instance)

    What’s the Glastonbury connection?
