Has FCUK07 been cancelled? I saw that there were some advance press releases but nothing since and there’s nothing about it on Philip Gardiner’s website. I think it mentioned somewhere that the new location was Glastonbury so I’m guessing that it’s been squashed by the Questing Conference and the Templar event.

Anyone know what’s happening with this?

Cheers,

A quick update on the well thread…

I downloaded the title deeds of the house in Welton with the site of the well which turns out to be owned by a local business tycoon. I wrote him a letter seeking a quick look around but so far no reply.

I got my hands on a copy of the James Rattue book (The Living Stream) and have made it to page 81 out of 147 but may have to give up. For some odd reason I can’t follow the author’s arguments very well (I’m willing to admit that I may be at fault here) and in any event Mr Rattue’s stated mission is to retake the history of wells from the New Agers and put it back on a solid historical footing. An admirable aim but a fairly dry read if I’m honest.

However, in one of those highly entertaining synchronicities he concludes his book with the following paragraph:

“And yet…In 1982 Andy Collins spent a ‘psychic quest’ uncovering the site and nature of the Rev. Bazille-Corbin’s ‘Shrine of Our Lady of the Running Well’ at Runwell (Essex). The well, on being rediscovered, was cleaned and restored and is currently visited each year on Boxing Day; in 1983 two hundred villagers took part in the procession, re-creating their communal identity anew by walking together and, so they might have thought, communing with their ancient pagan past (Bord 1985, 158). A created pagan past. Last laugh to the tricksters, And the historians.”

I don’t know if Andy knows about this and, if he does, what he thinks about it – but I would take it as a huge compliment. Tricksters indeed! :D

Hi Yuri.

Superb news! I can’t wait to get my hands on it. I’ll post a story on the front of the site over the next day or so with a review to follow.

Great work, Dude.

…and while I’m on the subject I see that Andrew has a new article on his website entitled: “The Roots of Runwell and the Running Well Mystery”

…and I’m usually only logged in at evenings.

If anyone does manage to overlap and have a session I’d be very interested in hearing how well (or not) it works.

Ooops, no – strike that from the record. Just found my notes and that was the Chapel of Abominations and the Rite of Babylon. Not sure about the Heart of the Rose.

in reply to: SWORDS OF MEONIA #2353

Heart of the Rose…that rings a bell. I think Andy mentioned it at one of the QuestCons. Was it the ruined chapel in the woods in Kent? It might be referred to in 21st Century Grail but I don’t have that to hand so I can’t check right now. Maybe somebody else can place it?

in reply to: Lakehead Hill/Bellever Tor, Dartmoor #2351

The Hairy Hands story reminds me…

Two separate people have told me that they have had nightmares where they were being pulled out of their beds by disembodied arms. They woke to find themselves halfway down the bed…and, although now awake, saw the arms “running” out the bedroom door. Not nice.

I’m all doom and gloom tonight…must be something I ate!

in reply to: Lakehead Hill/Bellever Tor, Dartmoor #2350

Wild!
We were always told as children that if you found yourself pixie-led and couldn’t find your way out of somewhere (although you knew where “out” was supposed to be) that we should turn our jumpers/coats inside out and that that would let us break out.

I never had anything so dramatic but there was a wood in Donegal where you could never come out at the same place you went in, despite following the same route back.

My mother claims to have had a similar experience in a field which was all the more dramatic because the field was flat and square and not finding the right side after four attempts would normally take some skill (or substance abuse!)

I must admit that I am very wary about fairies (I don’t know how to say that without sounding completely deranged). My wife and I had a strong but entirely naive fairy theme going through our courtship and wedding but after some “bad things” happened we toned down the whole thing and better luck ensued. I think I mentioned this before in relation to Daniel Pinchbeck’s comments about how he inadvertantly attracted a bad spirit, it caused some strife in his family and he ended up having to exorcise it. The bottom line is to realise that, deliberately or not, you are invoking some kind of power that is most definitely double-edged (pregnant women and mothers of new-borns take especial note!).

Or am I being unduly fearful?

in reply to: SWORDS OF MEONIA #2347

Picking up on Dan’s comments about there being more than 7 swords, I thought I’d read somewhere that Andrew acknowledged that there were probably more. But this article here [url:3lco8h58]http://www.hexarchive.com/archive/meonia.htm suggests he doesn’t – although it could be quite old. Coincidentally the chap who was given the sword is one of the authors of The Demonic Connection ([url:3lco8h58]http://www.psychicquesting.com/bookcatalog-book-21.html).

Anyone know what the latest thinking on the swords is or whether there is some test for genuine Meonia-ness (?)

Hi Michael,

I’ll be logged in about 20:00 for an hour or so if you’re there.

Some more info from Malcolm:

“I’ve been cleaning the sword up a bit today, unfortunately there’s about 300 years of rust on it. It looks as though it has been lying somewhere damp, with one side being considerably wetter than the other and strangly enough someone has put an edge onto to the bottom of the blade, obviously by hand and a long time ago.

However the centre panel of the cross-guard has the remains of a logo on it. It’s badly corroded but still just about visible. I can’t make it out 100% but it looks like emblem1.jpg, or possibly emblem2.jpg.”

Can anyone identify the logo or provide Malcolm with some pointers to where he may be able to get some answers?

Thanks,

Simon

in reply to: Victorian Lodges #2341

Hi Michael,

It’s “The International Encyclopaedia of Secret Socieities and Fraternal Orders” by Alan Axelrod. I got it as a present and it seems decent enough but now that I’m trying to use the index to locate entries which contain “yellow” or “triangle” it seems somewhat lacking!

However…as I thought about it something was niggling the back of my mind about the Golden Dawn. Possibly just because we had discussed this in one of our most recent interchanges but when I followed this lead I came, circuitously, to the card of Temperance in the Rider Waite Tarot Deck (picture below):

temperance.jpg

which as you’ll see has the yellow triangle on the front of the angel (curiously this is sometimes identified as the Archangel Michael!).

Some notes on this that might provide further clues are: “Square/Triangle on Chest – these derive directly from Levi’s description of the card in Transcendental Magic. The figure may also be a reference to the Tattwa for earth sub fire (Francis King – Magic, The Western Tradition, Fig 54 and p 26, and Israel Regardie – The Golden Dawn, pp 456-8 ). “

Of course it might just have been my pQ.com avatar that infiltrated your dream  !

Cheers,

Simon

Malcolm has kindly sent through the photos mentioned in his post – so here they are with accompanying notes. Cheers, Malcolm.

“The original meonia that surfaced recently.

Both swords together ,the blade in the brass sword is a temporary replacement (I’ve never felt happy about putting a proper blade into this sword).

and finally both swords along side our “key ” the Dragon sword, which led us into several curious episodes and strange encounters and culminated with a series of workings along the full length of the St Micheal line over a period of three days and two nights.
