Well, that was interesting! After the redesign of the site, activity almost stopped completely. I put this down to three things:

(1) Lack of effort from me
(2) The new forum app which just wasn’t nearly as good as the old one
(3) The rise of the social network

In an effort to combat these items I am currently doing some more development on the site. At present a new forum application has been installed and all the old information migrated. Also you can now log in with your Facebook credentials. Hopefully this will make everything more ergonomic.

Inevitably there will be some oddities and disruption as I make the changes. Please let me know if you hit any issues or annoyances.

Thanks,
Simon

in reply to: Hi! #2556

Hi there,

The site is a bit like the undead – no pulse but it keeps on staggering forward!  Seriously though there’s quite a bit of activity going on in the Questing world at the moment but due to its nature it tends to revolve around small groups following particular threads.  We need to somehow get people posting about their current Quests/research so that the wider audience gets to hear what’s going on.

I need to think about additional content for the site as well.  Any suggestions very welcome!  What would you like to see on the site?

Keep the faith,

Simon

Hi Albie,

Heads abound! With the Templar heads, I incline towards the theory that if they genuininely had heads they probably thought of them as “relics of power” – arguably like John the Baptist’s head in the Gospels.

The Robin Hood link is interesting as Robin Hood, at least in part, is surely a representation of the Green Man archetype. This connects both the theme of wounded king/wounded land (as found in some version of the Grail story and many Celtic myths before that) as well as the sleeping king/waiting to awaken and heal the land (as in the stories of King Arthur) with severed head themes (as in the story of Gawain and the Green Knight).

What does it all add up to?

Cheers,

Simon

This from the History of the Knights Templar:

“Brother John de Donyngton, of the order of the Minorites, the seventy-sixth witness examined, being sworn, deposed that some years back an old veteran of the Temple (whose name he could not recollect) told him that the order possessed four chief idols in England, one at London in the sacristy of the Temple; another at the preceptory of Bistelesham; a third at Bruere in Lincolnshire; and the fourth in some place beyond the Humber, (the name of which he had forgotten;) that Brother William de la More, the Master of the Temple, introduced the melancholy idolatry of the Templars into England, and brought with him into the country a great roll, whereon were inscribed in large characters the wicked practices and observances of the order. The said old veteran also told the deponent that many of the Templars carried idols about with them in boxes…”

Apropos of not much really but fitting in with the Weird Hull vibe, I had a bit of a Research Quest that ultimately didn’t trigger any psychic corroboration. I began to suspect that the legendary 4th Templar Head had been taken across the Humber and hidden. Then I came across the story of Owd Nance at Burton Agnes Hall (http://www.ghosts.org.uk/ghost/3112/skulls/screaming-skulls/the-ghost-of-owd-,nance-and-her-skull/yorkshire.html) and wondered if this was in fact a Templar Head whose camoflague had been too good and whose new identity spawned a legend which eclipsed any memory of what it had really been…

Hi Albie,

I worked in Hull just opposite Hammonds/House of Fraser for over a year. My ex-girlfriend’s surname was Towle. My Godmother lived in Lucan (outside Dublin).

If you’re mad then there’s two of us in it

By the way I always liked the Museum in Hull – lots of Roman remains and the earliest boats ever discovered in Europe.

Cheers,

in reply to: ST NECTAN’S GLEN #2537

Hi Magdalene and welcome to pQ.com.

There is a photo gallery on this site whihc you can access here: http://www.psychicquesting.com/coppermine/ which conincidentally only contains a series of St Nectan’s Glen photos.

I can’t remember if the main pQ login will work on the gallery – you may need to re-register. Alternatively – and even easier – if you want to email the photos to me (admin@psychicquesting.com) I will put them up for you and save you the hassle.

Kind regards,

Simon

Update: due to the usual busyness getting in the way of proper work (i.e. the redesign of this site  ), I’m about 3 months behind where I’d like to be.

The good news, though, is that things are nearing completion and the “new look” and re-structure are imminent (we’re talking weeks now, not months!). All the key architectural and design decisions have been made, most are in place and I now just need to shift the old content into the new structure. Some of this is easy and relatively automated (e.g. the forums) and some will be incredibly manual and time consuming (e.g. the News items).

Just keep the faith for a little longer and you will see some real life and energy re-injected into the site.

All the best,

Simon

Let me see if I can sow a little ambiguity in your beliefs

Check out the link above for an overview of the work of Dean Radin and see if that doesn’t make you think twice. Radin has carried out many properly contructed, “hard science”-grade experiments and found statistically significant results.

I have to agree with Dan in that first and foremost I believe Anrdew Collins is totally sincere in what he writes. From what I know of the man, there is absolutely no way he is deliberately setting out to deceive people.

However, you are then left with the question of whether you believe his interpretation of events – and here, like in life, there are no easy answers.

On the one hand there is a predisposition in humans to make connections, to create a meaningful narrative around themselves and their passage through life. There is a biochemical basis for this and certain drugs have been proved to increase the tendency to “see meaningful connections”.

On the other hand if parapsychological phenomena actually exist or if there is to be communication with another “realm” (whatever that may be), then it will inevitably be extremely subtle. Science has mapped out the ballpark and if there were any obvious “forces” they would have found them a long time ago. Scientists will claim that they have mapped the whole of reality but I think that in today’s world where the implications of quantum theory are being worked through, this is as much of an assumption as the counter view.

So the psychic communication will be subtle. It will require attention to patterns of small details. It will require much introspection as the platform for putting the pieces together and seeing the pictures will be the imagination. The imagination is where the worlds of the divine and of man intersect. CG Jung has probably explored this territory better than most and developed a practical technique for mapping the realm (active imagination).

Does this mean I believe that psychic questing is “only imaginary” or “all in the head”? Absolutely not. Reality is not the fixed, concrete “out there” we think it is. (And I think even the most sceptic scientist would agree with that last statement). Ambiguity and the interpration of this ambiguity by human consciousness lies at the heart of our reality.

Einstein famously (and, it now appears, incorrectly) said that God does not play dice. My riposte is that neither does God like black and white answers.

That’s all got a bit heavy…must be Sunday :D

One I do regret selling is the very rare Web Quest which I believe went to our very own Wembaster of the PQP!
[/quote:5fc4d8a960]

Sorry, mate. That *was* me
Another good psychic questing book that often gets overlooked is “The Circle and The Square” by Jack Gale. One of the reasons that I like it so much is that he never spends time trying to justify his psychic insights/magic – he just takes it all for granted and moves on which gives it a different feel to most of the other books where the authors are aware of the disbelief they could face and try to justify, to some extent, what they are doing.

I see that Amazon (or one of their sellers) has a Hardback edition of The Green Stone selling for £52 – that’s quite a rarity.

Hi All,

I’ve posted my review on the front of the site. Here’s a link: [url:58fcg6h0]http://www.psychicquesting.com/article-86-flat-0-.html-1

Cheers,

in reply to: PQ Weekender #2505

Oh man, don’t add to the guilt! I’ve been very neglectful recently. The whole site needs a massive overhaul but I can’t see it happening before Christmas at the earliest.

I am, however, going to the Questing weekender and hopefully this will give me the push I need.

Catch you there?

Simon

Thanks for posting that, Michael. Although I’ve read VALIS I haven’t seen this whole text before. It’s as mind-squirbbling as you’d expect. What on earth do you think the French made of it? :D

I need to let my brain rest and then come back to think about your theme of retrospective actions rippling forward into our present. What would that “reality manipulation” look like to someone observing it in the past (rather our past, their present)?

in reply to: The Story behind the Icon Trail #2497

I’m happy to say that a very nice photograph of the Icon Chapel has come my way. The thumbnail version is included in this post but please click on the thumbnail to get the full resolution picture (the thumbnail itself doesn’t really do justice to the space but the full-res image is about 1MB in size). Two of the stained glass windows (discussed above) are visible towards the top-left of the photograph while the icon of Christ the Healer sits to the right (as you look at it) of the furthest alcove. The photograph is copyright of Oliver Kamer so please respect this.

April 10th this year (2008) was the 20th anniversary of the opening of the chapel.
