I wonder if passions run similarly high when cedar strip hits the water?
Some might see cedar strip as having usurped the traditional plank-on-frame, copper-fastened and oakum-caulked carvel hull - albeit somewhat Lego-like by comparison.
As Adrian Morgan says of plywood, so cedar strip also looks a little strange (to me anyway) when finished with a clear coating; I'd want to cover up all those abrupt changes in grain and colour using something opaque.
Nonetheless, I see cedar strip as just another good method for engineering a boat and, more than that, keeping the whole wooden boat scene alive and relevant. I do wonder how long cedar strip and epoxy will last - perhaps some owners of early cedar strip boats can comment on that? And how easy is it to repair? Since the (strip) planks are joined edge to edge by convexities fitting inside concavities it must be virtually impossible to replace small areas of planking - would a damaged hull be a write-off? But it's supposed to be a pretty durable recipe. (One designer told me the epoxy was strong enough by itself to hold the lead keel, without bolts, and maybe he was right but they fitted bolts anyway).
The older I get the more I think buoyancy is the thing, however it's constructed. Crikey, these days I get a lift even boarding a pontoon and the ruddy thing's built of polystyrene! peatar004@psychicquesting.com(peatar004) Wed, 12 May 2010 08:49:53 +0100 http://www.psychicquesting.com/index.php?option=com_ccboard&view=postlist&forum=8&topic=180&post=1125 Re:Goethe Anecdote http://www.psychicquesting.com/index.php?option=com_ccboard&view=postlist&forum=8&topic=192&post=1124
I would say very important – especially in a global firm where English can be considered a pre-requisite for a person’s career. It is often taken for granted today that most people speak English, but this is not always the case. What you have to consider is that there are many people who learnt some English at school but never really needed it for their jobs. They may understand when you talk to them in English, but when they have to express themselves or express a concept in English, it can be very challenging. And this is not only true for older generations.

You have a lot of practical experience in a multilingual company. Could you give any anecdotes?

The communication between German people and Swiss German people: Swiss German people are taught High German at school, so you would expect them to be at ease conversing in High German with their German colleagues. In reality, I have witnessed many situations in which Swiss people prefer to switch to English. They feel more comfortable speaking in a non-native language because they have a level playing field. It is a way of finding a comfort zone.

What other communication problems could arise?

We often notice discomfort among non-native English speakers when they are in meetings with native English or American colleagues, who are very eloquent. Native speakers often use certain expressions or anecdotes to really put their point across. This visual language is something that non-native speakers cannot match. Even though content-wise they might make very important points, they will not reach the audience with the same level of impact.
peatar004@psychicquesting.com(peatar004) Wed, 12 May 2010 08:48:31 +0100 http://www.psychicquesting.com/index.php?option=com_ccboard&view=postlist&forum=8&topic=192&post=1124 Re:Something weird in Hull http://www.psychicquesting.com/index.php?option=com_ccboard&view=postlist&forum=8&topic=211&post=1123 Hull City have been warned their uncertain financial position threatens the club's "ability to continue as a going concern". The club's accounts, filed five months late to Companies House, say that in the event of relegation the Premier League club will need to generate a £23m surplus just to meet their existing liabilities.

The grim forecast from the club's accountants, Deloitte, emphasises the need for a financial overhaul during the next 12 months to safeguard Hull's future. Although the figures for their first season in the top flight will not be available until next year, the independent auditors' report, with its stark warning, does cover the club's current financial situation. peatar004@psychicquesting.com(peatar004) Wed, 12 May 2010 08:45:48 +0100 http://www.psychicquesting.com/index.php?option=com_ccboard&view=postlist&forum=8&topic=211&post=1123 Re:Lincoln Cathedral: Sacred Geometry http://www.psychicquesting.com/index.php?option=com_ccboard&view=postlist&forum=7&topic=135&post=1122 I appreciate that a similar thread was started back in March or so, but here's a new twist. Most of you will by now be aware of my work concerning Lincoln Cathedral and linking it to RLC, Templarism and MM. Well...here's the latest installment and I rap my own knuckles for sleeping thus far. Lincoln Cathedral, I now see, is linked to Trondheim Cathedral, which you all will know forms part of the Golden Mean section geometry of the 'Viking serpent', the measurements at Trondheim being numbers that are to show the church to be a new Temple of Solomon, a Heavenly Jerusalem on earth. This is all the more interesting for me having announced the placename 'Jerusalem' here in Lincoln. Trondheim Cathedral archaeologist Oystein Ekroll has confirmed me that Trondheim has two pillars flanking the entrance to the Cathedral octagon with crockets and small columns identical to the two pillars in Lincoln Cathedral. Trondheim call them the 'Lincoln Pillars' and Lincoln Cathedral call theirs the 'Trondheim Pillars' (at the junction of St Hugh's Choir and the East Transept) Their pillars were made from stone masons from Lincoln as these crocket pillars are not known in any other Cathedral. Naturally, I see this link as deliberate, and involving the entire sacred geometry issue. Dan Green will see 'Nideros', the name for Trondheim Cathedral as concealing 'Niddah-Rose'..'Niddah' from the Jewish meaning 'menstruating', and 'Rose' of course with its female sexual connotations. Presently, Harald Boehlke is interested in pursuing these findings with me. To add to it all, if you nip to; www.templarmechanics.com and study some of the geometrical findings including the pentagram on the Lincolnshire landscape discovered by my friend Templar mechanic Tony Peart, its hub being Temple Bruer no less, you will see how Tony claims the Bruer geometry links also with RLC. I, for one, will be most interested to see what he unearths from further geometry involving Lincoln Cathedral itself. Although the Cathedral has played the most part in my finding a location relating to a 'physical treasure' relating to RLC, I was always of the opinion that it would also play a greater part in the RLC mystery, and still hope to be correct. peatar004@psychicquesting.com(peatar004) Wed, 12 May 2010 08:43:24 +0100 http://www.psychicquesting.com/index.php?option=com_ccboard&view=postlist&forum=7&topic=135&post=1122 Re:Dangers of Questing http://www.psychicquesting.com/index.php?option=com_ccboard&view=postlist&forum=6&topic=85&post=1121 Item Requirements: 100 Fluff, 50 Poison Spore, 30 Scorpion Tail, 20 Rotten Bandage, 15 Little Evil Horn, 10 Empty Test Tube, 2 Yggdrasil Leaf, 10 Green Herb, Various Art Items (1 Red Frame, 1 Chung Jah, 1 China, 1 Cystal Mirror, Baphomet Doll, Chonchon Doll, Munak Doll, Osiris Doll, Poring Doll, Racoon Doll, Rocker Doll, Spore Doll, Yoyo Doll, Puppet), 10 Royal Jelly, 20 Honey, 30 Bear's Footskin, 1 Hinalle Leaflet, 1 Ment, 1 Empty bottle, 5 Mini Furnace, 2 Oridecon Hammer, 1 Golden or Emperium Anvil, 1 Mr. Smile, 7 Worn Out Page, 1 Glasses, 4 Resin, 12 Stone Heart, 375 Coral Reef, High Upgrade/High Level Weapon
peatar004@psychicquesting.com(peatar004) Wed, 12 May 2010 08:41:36 +0100 http://www.psychicquesting.com/index.php?option=com_ccboard&view=postlist&forum=6&topic=85&post=1121 Re:Artefact for sale http://www.psychicquesting.com/index.php?option=com_ccboard&view=postlist&forum=3&topic=207&post=1120 My wife is (jokingly) proposing to by this item off eBay for my Christmas present.
Apollo 11-17 Command Module Pyrex Porthole, ORIGINAL (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1467&item=39368614 54)

What are the chances that this is a genuine command module hatch window from a moon mission? peatar004@psychicquesting.com(peatar004) Wed, 12 May 2010 08:38:56 +0100 http://www.psychicquesting.com/index.php?option=com_ccboard&view=postlist&forum=3&topic=207&post=1120 Re:Forbidden Knowledge Conference http://www.psychicquesting.com/index.php?option=com_ccboard&view=postlist&forum=2&topic=114&post=1119 For those interested.

There will be a Bilderberg Conference in Oosterbeek, the Netherlands, on 5 Feb.

Today, when I was making a new appointment, I saw this listed in that persons agenda. For that I sincerely apologize.

In an attempt to speed up the Pocket Query Generator, the application(s) that processes tens of thousands of Pocket Queries a day, there was a cascading number of issues that resulted in duplicate Pocket Queries going out, Pocket Queries without logs and Pocket Queries not being sent out for a certain amount of time. Also in the process, Pocket Queries were brought down to a trickle, resulting in Pocket Queries not going out at all.

We're taking this issue very seriously at Groundspeak, and we'll be focusing on increasing the capabilities over this next weekend to ensure this never, ever happens again. By increasing this capacity we'll also be prepared to offer Pocket Queries with 1,000 results instead of 500. This will happen by the anniversary of geocaching (May 2, 2010). Having initially got a strong image of a stone and a clear idea of which quadrant of Avebury it was located in, I managed to find 'my' stone. However, it turned out that I was in the wrong quadrant. I also got completeley wrong the nature of the artifact - I kept getting the impression of something like a ice-cream stick with different colours on each side, whereas it was a small bronze horse thing. Oh well. All of us who got the wrong quadrant did get a second chance to locate the correct stone in the right quadrant. While standing I heard a metallic clink from somewhere behind me. Alas, when it came to facing the stone I thought it was from I was somewhat out. Obviously need to work on my latent psychic thingumy!

The weekend ended with a walk up Waden Hill, overlooking Silbury Hill. A meditation was done there, but I had to leave before the med. However, I went away with a golden glow.
Michael supernaturalist@psychicquesting.com(supernaturalist) Tue, 13 Oct 2009 10:28:48 +0100 http://www.psychicquesting.com/index.php?option=com_ccboard&view=postlist&forum=2&topic=203&post=1104 Re:Hi! http://www.psychicquesting.com/index.php?option=com_ccboard&view=postlist&forum=5&topic=213&post=1103
Hello The Lady B!

Welcome to this site (although I am a newby too, having only just discovered the site).

I note that you are from Barwell, Leicestershire and since I live in that county maybe we can share experiences and encourage one another in this field as the scene in Leicestershire at least is very quiet and there's no-one else as far as I am aware who is involved in PQ, let alone interested in the subject.

I hope to hear further from you in due course.

Many thanks!

Shadowman
shadowman@psychicquesting.com(shadowman) Mon, 12 Oct 2009 15:51:22 +0100 http://www.psychicquesting.com/index.php?option=com_ccboard&view=postlist&forum=5&topic=213&post=1103 Re:Artefact for sale http://www.psychicquesting.com/index.php?option=com_ccboard&view=postlist&forum=3&topic=207&post=1102
Hello Hernes Son,

Apologies for the late response to your earlier posting - I've omly recently joined!

What was the actual artifact that was being sold on ebay that Marion and Gaynor Sunderland had used in their psychic quests? I used a bog-standard kodak disposable camera; and as you can see from the first pic (orb above path) the photos started quite clear and bright. but the photos quickly start to get grey and grainy; here is a pic of some of the stones with names scratched upon them, and of many ribbons hung to trees, But here are the orbs! by now the camera had decided that it should be dark (and it wasnt it was actually quite bright and sunny) At first I thought that this could be rain drobs but it wasnt raining and drops should be pear shaped not round. It could be spray from the waterfall but there was none as I sat here for over an hour drawing and my paper remained completely dry... also, you can see a definite 'S' shaped spiral formed by the orbs and neither rain nor spray can do that can it? It was at this location that I felt a strong feminine Elen/Bride type goddess presence. NOTE; If any of these pictures dont come up for you it'll be because of my narrow bandwidth on my homepage, so come back again later YURI@psychicquesting.com(YURI) Wed, 03 Jun 2009 18:41:50 +0100 http://www.psychicquesting.com/index.php?option=com_ccboard&view=postlist&forum=1&topic=96&post=579 ST NECTAN'S GLEN http://www.psychicquesting.com/index.php?option=com_ccboard&view=postlist&forum=1&topic=96&post=562 I just got back from a quick trip to Cornwall and drew this amazing waterfall; located at the top of Rocky Valley near Tintagel, this is the waterfall of 'St Nectan's Glen'. (If you cant see the image it's because I'm having overloaded bandwidth problems on my homepage (please come back later to view) If you can see the picture then quick! cut n paste it incase it disappears! 8O ) I am aware of the legends of the 6th century saint, but having been there the place feels VERY feminine (the saint is a bloke). Of course you can easily google for St Nectans Glen... but before you do, I was curious to see if, from just looking at this drawing (I started it on location, sat there for over an hour getting a wet arse, before finishing it later) what, if any impressions it gives you? Please dont see this as a test, I'm just curious to see what people 'get' from the picture before 'knowing' about the site... there are no right or wrong impressions... I'll leave it a week or so then I'll type up all I know about Saint Nectan onto the Psychic Questing Encyclopedia. Cheers Yuri. It struck me that it looks like the knife is reflecting a man stood in a doorway. Which reminded me a painting I had made before I found the stone. I have superimposed the knife onto the pic to show where it matches. http://files.myopera.com/Albie/albums/680356/sten.jpg The side of the door is the red beard of the man on the other side of the stone. The darkness seems to be a figure stood next to him. As on the dish. The man in the painting; his red hand is the same shape as a blank side of the stone. The stone, in my eyes, is the shape of a shoe, if you rest it on the base shaped like a knife. Walking on knives? If you turn it onto it's other side it looks like this. http://files.myopera.com/Albie/albums/680356/stenn.jpg A bit blurred but you get the idea. Now compare it to The Deep in Hull, on the same shore a few miles down from where I found the stone. http://www.pinks-wetwipes.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2006/06/deep.jpg Built AFTER I found the stone. As soon as I saw the plans for the bulding I knew it was the stone. When the stone is that way up there is a shark image shown. The Deep has sharks. albie@psychicquesting.com(albie) Tue, 07 Apr 2009 13:31:19 +0100 http://www.psychicquesting.com/index.php?option=com_ccboard&view=postlist&forum=8&topic=211&post=1097 Something weird in Hull http://www.psychicquesting.com/index.php?option=com_ccboard&view=postlist&forum=8&topic=211&post=1096 If you twist that last image you get another bearded man. http://files.myopera.com/Albie/albums/680356/deta.jpg Which also turns up, madly, in a smear of paint on a saucer I was using as a palette. http://files.myopera.com/Albie/albums/680356/dshdeta.jpg Notice the black faced man next to him? There's a pefect eye there. Remember this was nothing more than a random smear of paint. Here's the whole dish. It is full of images. http://files.myopera.com/Albie/albums/680356/dsh.jpg Check out the green splodge. There's a remarkable image there. http://files.myopera.com/Albie/albums/680356/draghrse.jpg It looks like a skeletal horse head or a dragon. This is an image that crops up all the time with me. albie@psychicquesting.com(albie) Tue, 07 Apr 2009 13:18:28 +0100 http://www.psychicquesting.com/index.php?option=com_ccboard&view=postlist&forum=8&topic=211&post=1096 Something weird in Hull http://www.psychicquesting.com/index.php?option=com_ccboard&view=postlist&forum=8&topic=211&post=1095 I'm almost scared to tell you. :D This is the statue I was telling you about on the Hull Marina. The artist named it Neptune. http://files.myopera.com/Albie/albums/680356/nef.jpg Compare it to the other side of the stone I found. http://files.myopera.com/Albie/albums/680356/sten1.jpg There's a bearded man on the other side of the stone. http://files.myopera.com/Albie/albums/680356/sten3.jpg See it? In orange and red at the bottom right? Here's a close up. http://files.myopera.com/Albie/albums/680356/beard.jpg albie@psychicquesting.com(albie) Tue, 07 Apr 2009 13:11:52 +0100 http://www.psychicquesting.com/index.php?option=com_ccboard&view=postlist&forum=8&topic=211&post=1095 Something weird in Hull http://www.psychicquesting.com/index.php?option=com_ccboard&view=postlist&forum=8&topic=211&post=1094 Hi Albie, Heads abound! With the Templar heads, I incline towards the theory that if they genuininely had heads they probably thought of them as "relics of power" - arguably like John the Baptist's head in the Gospels. The Robin Hood link is interesting as Robin Hood, at least in part, is surely a representation of the Green Man archetype. This connects both the theme of wounded king/wounded land (as found in some version of the Grail story and many Celtic myths before that) as well as the sleeping king/waiting to awaken and heal the land (as in the stories of King Arthur) with severed head themes (as in the story of Gawain and the Green Knight). What does it all add up to? Cheers, Simon Simon@psychicquesting.com(Simon) Tue, 07 Apr 2009 07:25:23 +0100 http://www.psychicquesting.com/index.php?option=com_ccboard&view=postlist&forum=8&topic=211&post=1094 Something weird in Hull http://www.psychicquesting.com/index.php?option=com_ccboard&view=postlist&forum=8&topic=211&post=1093 Come to think of it, my dream of Robin Hood involved him being beheaded. But then the dream was mad because he was beheaded by a car crushing his head. He had this horrible stump for a head afterwards, then he was buried in a pod in the side of a hill to be woken later. Did they have cars and gestating pods back then?:) In the dream, I was shown an image of the black mill in Beverley, which was the same shape as Robin's neck stump. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/259143 The mill isn't that old though. maybe two hundred years. albie@psychicquesting.com(albie) Mon, 06 Apr 2009 12:28:46 +0100 http://www.psychicquesting.com/index.php?option=com_ccboard&view=postlist&forum=8&topic=211&post=1093
